A GIRL FIGHTER is a prisoner escort film with an extended inn-based interlude, with Polly Shang-Kuan playing the usual firebrand type.

It feels a bit like Union Films needed something to keep the rest of the staff busy whilst King Hu was deliberating, so they did what they - sort of - knew how to do. The result here is a derivative film that is not particularly well made, but does have one or two novel ideas, and since a fight breaks out roughly every five seconds it at least never gets boring.

Being under 90 minutes probably helps too.

Summary: Last Train from Gun Hill

Nice Taiwanese remake of "Last Train from Gun Hill" with Shang-Kuang Ling-Feng as sheriff Kirk Douglas. This film is not as well exploited as the original, but the scenes of the inn, at least, are much more fun.

Summary: Dull

Pity about this one. Polly looks great, and manages some impressive moves. Unfortunately, the fight choreography is appallingly stilted and unconvincing, and the story is hard to follow. I was too bored to watch beyond a half an hour.
