Reviewed by: hkcinema Date: 12/08/1999 Incredibly schlocky kung-fu/magic/slapstick movie which inspired a"series" of sorts - later movies include The Miracle Fighters, Shaolin Drunkard, and Taoism Drunkard. Something of a curio, featuring several sequences which are so unapologetically bizarre and low-budget that they must be seen to be believed. For example, the opening scene, which pits a temple guardian in a row-boat against a man with a candle-like flamethrower mounted on his head, was described (in HKFC magazine) as "jaw-dropping in its sheer absurdity".
