A very sweet little film which will entertain given half the chance. It's just great to sit back watch two immensely talented actors enjoying the chemistry they share on screen. Of course, I'm a sucker for these modern romantic comedies.

Romantic comedy about a happily uncouth country kingpin (Chow) ofa New Territories hamlet, whose girlfriend, Firefly Kwok (Carol Cheng, from _Her Fatal Ways_) returns from a sojourn in London hideously transformed into a punkoid hipster. Chow's Wu Shan Shui tags along when Firefly moves to Hong Kong desperately trying to class himself up in order to win her back. Eventually of course, he succeeds on both counts. Terence Chang does a cameo as Cheng's grumpy boss.

Routine romantic comedy has perennial irritation Do Do Cheng fresh from the UK to tie the knot with provincial village head man Chow Yun-Fat. Anthony Wong and Carina Lau find love, too. Movie employs an arcane tree symbolism I don't claim to understand.
