Summary: Buckets of fun

Frankie Chan writes, directs and stars as Power Chan, a cocky cop who breaks up a gang of weapons-runners and is then targeted for revenge, with a master of disguise framing him for the murder of a witness. He and his comic relief partner turn to their neighbour, a psychic cross-dressing Eric Tsang, for some supernatural assistance.

Yes, the film is as ridiculous and fun as that sounds. Frankie Chan delivers kung fu, shootouts, comedy, ghosts, gweilos and - as always - a fabulous moustache. The comedy is crass but genuinely witty, and the action (choreographed by Frankie Chan regular Fung Hak-On along with Guy Lai) is spectacular.

There's a long stretch in the middle where the action takes a break for increasingly stupid shenanigans, but it's saving its strength for an all-out finale that is a must-see for fans of Hong Kong's unique brand of action.

Films seem to have lost the ability to pack this much into 92 minutes in the 21st century and it's a shame. Sure, the script isn't going to win any awards, but the commitment to entertainment and surprises makes the film a winner.

Muddled nonsense, occasionally fun vehicle for Frankie Chan, as the intrepid police inspector Power Chan.

Eric Tsang, in drag as the cops' auntie spirit medium and trying very hard to be wacky, has never been less funny, and could well have stayed away.

There are a number of running gags, and one which works is Power's reaction to the porno film director Ho (Charlie Cho, who else ?), whom Power's girlfriend is using to break into movies. When cornered, all Power has to do is hypnotize himself into believing his opponent is Ho, then nothing can stop him.

Worth watching is Papaya (the sexy Lily Lee), a prostitute friend of the cops. The film pinches more than a little from Sam Raimi's Darkman, notably the amazing disguises used by Nine Face Fox.
Overall - below average.

Summary: NULL

Annoying farce with very good fight scenes, as martial arts master Power Chan (Frankie Chan, who also directed) and his police partner set out after a doublecrossing arms smuggler. But with the help of Auntie San (ever-unfunny Eric Tsang, in drag) and her magic spells, they vanquish hitman/disguise artist Nine Face Fox, who conveniently got rid of all the rest of the villains himself. Idiotic and, for long stretches, dull dull dull.
