Mermaid Got Married

Very similar in concept to "Splash". The mermaid's boyfriend isa teacher at a school, and Kent Cheng is the principal (as opposed to John Candy in "Splash"). It's pretty much just a high school comedy, with lots of jealousy among the female characters who don't trust their boyfriends. It's the world's most beautifully photographed high school comedy, though. The mermaid costumes and underwater scenes are really beautiful. Thankfully, it's done as a family movie, so no gratuitous nudity. Quite wholesome. There's some nice Cocteau-Twins-ish music (or maybe this is another Cranberries ripoff ala Chung King Express).

Summary: NULL

A mermaid (Christy Cheung) loses her magic pearl to a young high school teacher (Kaneshiro Takeshi) whose life she saved; in trying to get it back, they fall in love, but then she's soon kidnapped by some profiteers. Primitive FX rival The Magic Crane and Green Snake. Movie gets an obligatory two stars for the chance of seeing Christy for a couple of hours.
