A simple little comedy that quietly manages to keep your interestand entertain you throughout. Hong Kong University freshman Siu Bo (John Tang) is your typical young man more interested in chasing women than pursuing studies. But all that changes when he meets Jean (Yeung Ching), a politically-aware, agressive student from nearby Chinese University. He instantly falls for her and the rest of his college career is defined by his encounters with her, as she is constantly coming into and out of his life. What makes this movie enjoyable, besides a smartly written script, is a non-stop running narration reflecting the hidden thoughts in Siu Bo's head (a la LOOK WHO'S TALKING). The narrator serves as both comic relief and insightful host. And his often direct comments make for a fun contrast to John Tang's reserved behavior. Yeung Ching also does a good job as the progressive female who always remains at arms-length distance from Siu Bo, although she looks more like John Tang's older sister than his girlfriend. Jacob Cheung is a master at creating these relaxed, engaging stories that reveal much about the characters without having to do anything out of the ordinary. And here he's come up with a worthy entry in this intelligent series.
