Reviewed by: MrBooth Date: 05/30/2002 Summary: Funny People never seem to have nice things to say about Dayo Wong and Cheung Tat Ming, but from my first exposure to the duo I can't see why. The movie is very funny, in a tragi-comic kind of way. Neither actor takes themselves too seriously, and most of the humour comes from them poking fun at themselves. Angela Tong is a welcome presence here too, as is the extended cameo from Matt Chow. I really enjoyed the movie, laughed quite a lot - particularly in the closing scenes with Helena Law Lan. It's kind of dumb humour, but intelligently done, if that makes sense. Recommended! Reviewer Score: 7

While i didn't roll on the ground laughing my head off, i did have consistent short laughs through out the movie. I compare all comedies to the KING OF COMEDY himself, Chow Sing Chi. While it is not as funny has his films, i did enjoy this one. The last scene is the best, when the 2 would be robbers get chased by a OLD police woman!! Not extremely funny but funny enough to see......or buy the Vcd, in my case!! 7/10 Reviewer Score: 7

Reviewed by: grimes Date: 04/09/2000 This movie put me in mind of Days of Being Dumb, another movie about wannabe criminals who are total goofballs. The goofballs here are Papa (Dayo Wong) and Li Ka Shing (Cheung Tat-Ming). Li is a meek bank teller who is fired at the beginning of the film, at which point he encounters Papa, a triad member who pretty much does nothing all day. Papa offers to let Li Ka Shing in on his big plan for a bank robbery, which he has been formulating for the past ten years. Most of the movie involves the two of them practicing for the big heist as well as just goofing around. There is also a subplot between Papa and his girlfriend, who leaves him at the beginning of the film but moves back in (because she needs a place to stay). This film is lowbrow and silly, but well-done (though not quite as hilarious as Days of Being Dumb). There are some great scenes between the two leads, and they had a good comic chemistry. The best scene is their eventual bank robbery and the chase afterwards, which is fairly farcical. There is also a great joke about the HK film industry thrown in for the heck of it.
