From the HKFA:
Cora Miao, one of the entertainment industry's successful pioneers to land a showbiz career by entering and winning the 1976 Miss Hong Kong Pageant's Photogenic Award. Her first TVB appearance was co-hosting the long running variety show "Enjoy Yourself Tonight".

In 1979, Miao strode into the big screen from the television box. Miao then participated in three Ann Hui features "The Story of Woo Viet", "Love in a Fallen City" and "Boat People". She also starred in Stanley Kwan's "Women". Miao starred opposite Chow Yun Fat in all of these movies and has left a deep impression with the audience as Chow Yun Fat's screen lover ever since the TVB's hit drama series "Hotel" when she played the role of a pitiful wife jilted by Chow Yun Fat as a revenge to her father.

In 1986, Sylvia Zhang's romantic drama "Passion" provided Miao recognition as Best Supporting Actress in the 23rd Golden Horse Awards in Taiwan. In her ten years on the Asian cinema circuit, Miao has worked with a number of award winning directors in China, Hong Kong & Taiwan (in over 10 feature films), mostly romantic drama, that aroused wide interest among Asian cinema critics.

Miao met Wayne Wang, her American born film director husband in 1984 through the film "Dim Sum : a little bit of heart" and starred in Wang's "Life is cheap... but toilet paper is expensive" & "Eat a bowl of tea" in 1989. Miao has not appeared in front of movie screens since their marriage. (Quoted from DVD)
