Sai Ming Jun (Anita Yuen) was doing just fine as an office administrator until the Zao family took over; turns out that one Zao brother, the decent one (Lau Ching Wan) is falling in love with her, while his older brother had fathered her only child. The family complications are a tad contrived, but its reflections on the concubine system (which exists to this day) and family politics make this a very tense feel-good movie.
