Hunting List (1994)

A popular theory with internet critics is that Quentin Tarantino ripped off much of the plot for his debut Reservoir Dogs from Ringo Lam's City on Fire. So it would only seem fitting that a Hong Kong filmmaker would return the favor by lifting some elements from one of his movies. Hunting List is pretty brazen with this; a couple of sequences (most notably the finale) are done almost word-for-word as they were in the Tarantino-scripted True Romance. Other than that, there's really not much of note in this Category III triad drama. There's lots of sex and violence (they must have ordered the "extra juicy" squibs for this movie), but the acting is poor; everyone seems to be either crying, yelling or laughing maniacally. The biggest culprit is the plot, which is the whole tired "undercover cop in too deep" thing all over again, and still manages to not make much sense at all.
