Summary: A decent ambush
This sword play film from 1972 is an engaging 90+ minute film. The story moves along at a quick pace and while it is not that original, it holds up well right until the last scene. The acting is quite good, the fights are well structured and well acted. The actors weren't that well known (to me at least) but I enjoyed their work and was impressed at how they interacted, no one going over the top or being so bad to draw away from the overall action. The story has bits of everything in it, part detective thriller, part "The Wild Western", part romance, part ghost story and even a tiny part category III, well almost. I found this a good adventure and thoroughly enjoyed the hour and a half it runs for, it didn't lose its way or run out of puff, right until the final scene. OK the final scene is the only one that was a bit silly, the hero and heroine running/skipping up a hill carrying a large, heavy chest of stolen jewelery, but I can forgive one silly scene.
Overall I liked this adventure and would recommend it. Though not a classic it is enjoyable.
