First Option (1996)

When a standard Customs raid turns deadly, Don Wong and his SDUteam is called in to help. The two organizations work together to uncover a major drug smuggling operation. I'm not sure how (of if) this film fits in with _The Final Option_. Michael Wong's character isn't referred to as Stone Wong, his character's name in _The Final Option_ (note to English subtitle readers: there's a character named 'Stone Man' in the film - it's not Michael's character - quite confusing). In any case, this film doesn't compare favorably with the former. Acting and script is subpar. Michael Wong, showing off his newly pumped up arms, looks promising in his first few scenes, but quickly settles down into his usual acting style. And I think I caught Gigi sneaking a peek at her cue cards a few times. The script is awful - only _Star Wars_ can get away with serious use of the phrase 'seduced by the dark side' (this was not just in the subtitles). Where the film shines is in the action sequences. There are several combat sequences in the film, and each one features great combat tactics and conveys real tension.
