The Umbrella Story (1995)

Decent effort by Clifton Ko in trying to retell the story of the Umbrella Store. The effects by Golden Centro was a little disappointing, but it's great seeing Bruce having so much screen time. The beginning was great with Law Koon Lan, dropped off a little after Alice Lau married into the family, but picked up again later by the FX and Hui Fan's portrayal as Auntie Chuen, a HAKKA woman. [Hello, is Chris here?] Not as good as I Have a Date with Spring, but the story and premise are different. To Kwok Wai did a decent job on the story and screenplay. My only complaint is that it didn't cross into the future far enough, as the story ended in the 60s/70s...
