Summary: Maybe Awful But...
First off, I've gotten to like Michael Wong. I've gotten used to his" one sentence in Cantonese, the next in English" style, and he's even been playful about his language abilities in recent films. (And, of course, I count myself among the countless number of non-Cantonese speaking HK movie fans who would give my left foot to know the langauge as badly as he does.)

Second, I'm not a big fan of Category III movies, so I'm not defending this one film because there's blood and nudity.

I will admit the acting isn't good, and the plot twists at will. However, there's a consistent, eerie feel to the movie, and the "Silence Of The Lambs" scene with the coroner is well worth the price of admission. It's one of those scenes I go back to watch every once in a while. Call it a guilty pleasure.
