Summary:
Patchy action comedy
|
This film is half good and half bad. Unfortunately, the good and bad halves were chopped into pieces and mixed up.
Overall, the mix does not work. But the good stuff is god enough to tolerate some of the bad, provided you have access to the fast forward.
Great old campaigner Ng Man Tat does quite well, despite having to carry a lot of the stupid stuff. He gets to dress up in drag (twice), get beaten up for no particular reason, and even plays a massage chair (this scene is hilarious).
Aaron Kwok is about as good as ever, Maggie and ChingMy don't get much of a look-in, and Deric Wan does little with his spoilt-rich-boy character.
The action scenes with super-baddie Hung Yan Yan (who starts off with long hair !) are a blast, and are the definite highlights.
Overall, a farce which slips too often into trying to be serious, and an uneasy balance between the two genres.
