Twelve Deadly Coins (1969)

Summary: What an epic!
I had been waiting for the arrival of this gem which I had been longing for ever since I discovered its existence months ago. And oh my, what a gem it is indeed! The story is excellent, so far the most convincing for any pre-1980 Shaw Bros production I've witnessed so far. The characters develop gorgeously, with hardly any flaw! Great emotional moments too (especially towards the end; I guarentee it to be moving!). I never knew Lo Lieh was so great until now. The only thing that could have been better is the action. Not that there isn't at least 4 or 5 fight scenes, but most of them are among big crowds and no one really demonstrates any skill at all. The action is really slow and basically it didn't exactly have to take a great hero like Lo Lieh to perform. Unfortunately the action is like this in every 60s movie. A lot of common people as the characters really helped this movie rank at the top of the all time Shaw Brother hall of fame!
