Director Kwok manages some moderately effective moments when dealing with human matters, as attempts are made to characterize Hung as a real person, and perhaps even show him maturing thanks to his weird experiences. The usage of jazz music for the soundtrack also hints at attempts to create a fun, but slightly more believable horror yarn.
