New Tales of the Flying Fox (1984)

probably the best adaption of Jing Yong's "Flying Fox of the Snowy Mountain" that you will find. This movie pretty much sums up the entire novel/[30-hour TV serial] in about 88 minutes. In addition, it contains some great action--still imaginative for its time. It's great to see Felix Wong, who practically owns wuxia TV series, in a Shaw movie. He also does some very good action, and Hui Ying Hong is good as usual.

There are two other adaptions of the same novel: Legend of the Fox with the venoms and Sword of Many Lovers with Leon Lai. This movie is more like a combination of both of the other movies, since it has scenes from both movies that are only in one or the other. The main weaknesses in this movie are the plot and character development. Due to the short length, there is practically none. IF you aren't familiar with the original novel, you will definitely not be getting what's going on here.
