Revengence Superlady (1986)

Summary: Not so super
This film could have been a LOT better. A few of the scenes are terrific. There's a wild chamber of death scene about one hour in, probably inspired by Indiana Jones, but owing much to those psychedelic epics of the 70s like the fantastic Shaolin Kung Fu Mystagogue. This scene could, and perhaps should, have been the opening sequence.

The sword fighting scenes are at least competent set pieces, and tall slim and pretty Ting Lam looks great in her black cape and mask. And there's some lovely photography of beautiful locations.

Unfortunately, all this is overshadowed by the dreadfully dull story and generally slow and ponderous pace. The titular "revengance" starts at 29 minutes, and is a very stop-start affair. You'll be either yawning or frustrated if you make it to the death chamber scene.

Guess it proves that Ting Lam wasn't meant to be a lead actress. Pity.
