Stowaway (2001)

If you followed the story upon which this film is based closely, then I would have trouble recommending this film, although it is bound to provoke interest.

The problem I have is with the inevitable dramatisation of the occurrence to unbelievable levels. I don't blame the filmmakers, for what it is, STOWAWAY is an almost worthwhile film, though parts are too much to stomach/swallow. This is a real shame, because some of the interim sequences, as well as the final 10 minutes of this picture are handled sensitively and are quite thought-provoking, without becoming melodramatic or sentimental.

With a little more care and attention, STOWAWAY could have been a brilliant piece of cinema. It's hardly a dull subject matter, so why treat it as such?

Cautious recommendation.
