A sequel of sorts to the superior film Spooky Family, this Jeff Lau ghost/vampire comedy once again features Kent Cheng and Pauline Wong as husband and wife. While in the first movie, Pauline had reason to be jealous about Kent's affections for colleague sister Nina Li, this time around the situation is reversed: her old flame Lam Ching Ying suddenly arrives with daughter Gigi Lai in tow - and now it's Kent's turn to be jealous. Further trouble arises through the appearance of the vicious "red jacket ghost" as well as LCY's hostile reaction to the friendly female ghost that is part of Kent's household.

The movie alternates between supernatural taoist rituals, well-choreographed fight scenes between the humans and the evil supernatural beings, and silly slapstick comedy. The latter is not as sharp and as funny as in Spooky Family, nor is the action choreography as inspired, but the film still offers some highly entertaining hijinx, and in any case, LCY fighting the undead is always worth watching in my book. With a little more focus on the supernatural side of things, and less focus on the comedic household antics, teh movie could have been even better. I'd say, if you enjoy the genre, you'll have a decent enough time watching this film.

The Winson DVD is an atrocity, though. Fullscreen, horrible English subtitles (with a lot of dialog not translated at all - it sometimes seems they only bother to provide subs for those parts of the dialog that were essential for the story) and worst of all, the Cantonese soundtrack goes missing for a full chapter in the middle of the movie and I had to switch to the Mandarin soundtrack...
