Final Romance (2001)

Summary: ugh... not that painful... but nothing great...
first of all, as much as it pains me to say this, Edison is /almost/ bearable in this film. At least he acts pretty well and doesn't make me want to shoot my television screen, as his performance in 'Gen-y cops' or 'Dance of the Dream' did... he keeps the annoying prick smirks to a minimum despite his expanded screen time.

Amanda Strang is pretty and convincing, but her character is virtually non-existent in the second half, maybe that was a mannequin? couldn't tell!

As far as the plot goes - this should have been (and practically is) two seperate movies. the first movie is almost a direct rip-off of City of Glass - next of kin of two dead lovers meet and eventually fall in love, except this time set in a Japanese mountain resort, and without all the flashbacks...

the second half is the cliched 'rich girl meets low class thug, they fall in love, she decides she wants to break off loveless relationship with annoying doctor guy, faces daddy's opposition...' story line. Except this time, just to make it a little unique Terrence Yin (who does a good job at looking really evil through his disheveled hair) also wants to kill the daddy...

I don't know what to say, I think I would have liked it if it just stuck tot he first cliche and left out the second one.
