Bride Napping (1962)

This flick takes place during the late Sung Dynasty and is based on one of the chapters in the novel called SHUI HU ZHUAN or OUTLAWS OF THE MARSH by Shi Naian (same people know it as THE WATER MARGIN. Due to a miscommunication, Liu Yuet Ying (Ding Ling, the daughter of the richest man in town is kidnapped, no it’s “bride” napped, by buffoon bandit, Chou Tung (Chu Mu) who is seeking a wife. The bandit’s sister (played by Diana Chang), a caring lady, returns Yuet Ying back to her parents (disguised as a man!), but the steady insistence of Chou Tung wanting to marrying Yuet Ying leads to some tense moments for the Liu family as Chou Tung’s sister and a helpful monk (Feng Yi) lend a hand to diffuse the whole situation.
