It's funny, I've been planning on visiting that Chinese Restaurant art installation when I'm in Toronto a couple of weeks from now. Maybe they'll let me take pictures (yeah, right!) and I can post a couple here. In case anyone else reading these forums is from the region, admission to YYZ Gallery is free, so it could be part of a cool daytrip.

I also mentioned to my girlfriend that sooner or later someone was going to do a "Korean Corner Store" installation because, much like many immigrant families who ran independent businesses in their adopted countries (including the families who ran the types of Chinese restaurants featured in Tam's installation), Korean families often lived (or live) in the apartments behind or above their corner variety stores. There are so many diasporic world cultures that could be represented by installations like these for the dialogue they inevitably bring about.
