Anyone catch this in the story about Johnny To?

He was in New York City to present one of them, the gangster sequel Triad Election at the New York Film Festival, and ComingSoon.net had a chance to sit down with the Hong Kong legend to talk about the movie and his upcoming projects.

I'll admit it's less jarring than the Weinstein's and Bey Logan changing SPL to KILL ZONE, but when will these retarded American distributors stop feeling the need to dumb down Hong Kong films for the masses? TRIAD ELECTION? Come ON....

I thought that the Triad Election title was kicking around for awhile? Anyway, it sounds better than Election 2. Sort of like the Pirates of the Caribbean titles or Lord of the Rings, just a bit reversed, that's all.

News to me. Still, I think sticking "Triad" in front of the title takes away any mystery there might have been for the uninitiated. They could've ditched the "2" and substituted some kind of subtitle, which might have read a little smoother. I wonder if Tartan has the rights to the first one as well. Maybe they'll pull an OPERATION CONDOR and release it AFTER the second movie, perhaps as TRIAD ELECTION 2: THE BEGINNING.
