"Business As Usual" - Interview with Edison Chen and CLOT co-owner Kevin Poon

From the article, Edison Chen: "So keep ya eyes and ears peeled and bear witness to the wrath of the math and the journeys of the journeyman EDC, but to b honest i am just trynna chill and live my life. LET ME LIVE BABY LET ME LIVE... but in the meantime enjoy the new JUICE experience and enjoy the new CLOT hot s**ts..."

My lord - I had no idea what a tool this guy is

The scary thing is, he's always been like this. That's obviously an email interview, and it clearly shows his writing ability and limited grasp of his native tongue - English! Personally, I'm no good at math, but I think the word "chill" or "chillin" is mentioned approximately 21,000 times in that piece. Even when he tried to "speak" straight, as he did in his "statement" just after the scandal broke, it was laughable. It actually bothers me that he might actually be able to make a comeback in Hong Kong someday by being this way. One likes to hope that Hong Kong youth are not so oblivious to this kind of bull, but kids these days . . . no different than those that came before them, I suppose!

To get the true scope of what an arrogant, uneducated, and even slightly racist little idiot he is, you might want to check out his OLD blog, which is thankfully backed up at Archive.org (with pictures of his flagrant materialism largely intact!). Here's a fun entry in which Canadian-born Edison shows off the money he's giving to his friends and associates . . . the Chinese ones only, mind you:

http://web.archive.org/web/200602062121 ... om/edison/

and here's one where (further down) he mocks some Buddhist monks with subtle references to his "sins"
http://web.archive.org/web/200603210101 ... om/edison/

And from there, you can click just about any of the dates on this page for more hilarious verbal diarrhea from this talentless man-child:
http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://blo ... om/edison/

Apologies in advance for any pain and suffering these links may cause.

He's the quintessential poseur, isn't he? His whole "act" is lifted verbatim from pre-packaged "rap culture", rather than any meaningful life experience like many real rap/hip-hop stars actually endure before they reach the top. Not that many of 'em don't act just like Edison once they get there . . .

Dun hate me for bein' true, y'all!

And in more literate news, this month's edition of National Geographic is entirely devoted to China, if anyone's keen on a good read. Picked it up last night, but much of the content is online as well, including some gorgeous photography:
http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2008/ ... f-contents
Intro story:
http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2008/ ... ssler-text
Interactive map with photos (including Hong Kong)
The magazine version also includes a beautiful map of the country detailing borders, cities, and land coverings. The back of the map is an illustration and history of the Forbidden City. Very nice. ;)
