The opening credits have been spruced up, Yo-Yo Ma redid the score, and (if my memory of the original serves) I’m pretty sure the last line has been altered, or else re-translated. Also, somewhere, Wong has cut around seven minutes. But this trippy, plot-hopping movie wasn’t - and isn’t - a model of narrative clarity. Its chief virtue is being really cool to look at, thanks to cinematographer Christopher Doyle
