DB TITLE UPDATE: THE WARNING TIME (2000)

I always assumed our entry for this was complete, but turns out it's not.

Found at least one interesting nugget from the credits of this one: Yu Rong-guang now officially has an english name: Ringo Yu! (see credits below)

We also now have a Chinese name for presenter Sonny Chan (see opening credits below) He's currently in the database with his English name in both fields:

Strawberry Yeung and Yvonne Yung Hung are listed as "guest stars" in this, but I'm not sure I saw them, unless they're one of these two:




My thinking is that one of these girls is Ivy Ng, the other is Karen Lee, who both get earlier billing than either Strawberry or Yvonne in the opening credits. Problem is, I don't know which one's which.

Of these next four, only Ivy Ng is in the DB, so the other three will need to be added. As mentioned, I suspect the two ladies pictured above are Ivy Ng and Karen Lee, but I don't know which is which.

I noticed that alias when I was double-checking, but I only looked at the English entry for him, so I didn't notice the alias in Chinese. Odd thing is, I don't think he's actually in the film.

. . . references an interview with Vincent Wan from a site called "hk-imail", but the content is no longer available. It seemed to suggest that what ended up on screen wasn't entirely what was in the screenplay (and the movie DOES feel that way). Charles notes the absence of Yvonne Yung as well, possibly a victim of the cutting room floor. I suspect the same goes for Strawberry Yeung and Ricky Yi and maybe others, which makes it a bit of a cheat to still advertise all their names in the opening credits and on the DVD/VCD sleeves. Elvis Tsui, Bryan Leung and Jamie Luk also have suspiciously useless roles for such big names. I don't know of any alternate cuts that exist, but that's not to say they don't. I have to wonder if first-time director Vincent simply shot too much with his decent cast, then was forced to start trimming to stay in the 90 minute range.

I don't think they are the same person, the first credit lists two different people Sonny Chan and Ng Chi-Keung, not Sonny Chan = Ng Chi-Keung. Because Sonny doesn't have a Chinese name they listed it in English. The second one lists both Chinese and English names for Danny Ng. That's how I read it.

It would also be interesting to find out what made the hitherto (and since) unknown Charles Leung and Pinky Ng worthy of "Special Appearance" status. Unless that's a fancy of way of saying "Introducing . . . "

As far as I remember Strawberry Yeung and Ng Shui Ting played a very small roles of Carrie Ng's friends in one scene. Really small, and it's difficult to spot. There were some other friends in the same scene, probably Yvonne and Ricky but about these two can't say for sure.

Guess I'll keep an eye out for them. I have to rewatch this at some point as I lost my review of it on my computer and it was one of those lovely rare ones where I didn't keep notes. Yay. They sure must have been small roles. Still makes me wonder if a lot of stuff didn't end up on the cutting room floor, since many big names in the credits are either absent on screen or shunted off to peripheral roles, possibly like these two.

Hey, almost forgot you posted those in another thread here! My brain must be having trouble keeping up with the sudden revival of several old threads related to a bunch of B-movies with overlapping casts! Pretty wild that Strawberry got near-top billing for a borderline walk-on, but such is the nature of the industry.
