Some of the stuff didn't really make sense to me... why the hell would the ABC guy's parents want to throw away their family's ancestral lineage tablet? wtf happened w/ the KMT guy and the mainland woman? what the hell was maggie cheung's relationship deal? no real explanations for anything... Reviewed by: Inner Strength Date: 01/12/2002 Summary: Serious drama, not bad This is worth seeing for sure. It's about 3 women, one from China, one from Hong Kong, and one from Taiwan (just like in real life!) who all are living in New York, US. Sylvia Chang is the best I think, she plays a woman struggling to live in America with many problems in her life, especially the prejedice views forced against her from Americans. Maggie Cheung plays a lesbian in this movie, and doesn't act as well as I had hoped. Still, it's worth watching for a serious drama, and I think it was shot in sync sound too, it certainly sounded like it. The subtitles are in good English for once too, but as I don't understand Mandarin, not sure if all of it was right, but it looked right for what happens in the film. Rating (out of 5): 3 (This rating is based on the year & genre, so don't think it's based as a comparison on new releases etc.)
