Summary: I Respectfully Disagree

After reading the first 2 reviews I have to say I feel much different about ths film. One of the most harrowing "Girls with Guns" movies I've ever seen. Highlighted by a couple of great acting performances.

The plotline starts out as the basic cookie-cutter outline we're used to seeing in these type of stories. Midway through however the story jumps in high gear thanks to IMO one of Moon Lee's best screen performances. There are some plot holes but you get used to that with these mid 90's HK actioneers. There's a great ending sequence and some intense moments leading up to it.

The real story here is Yukari Oshima and the fore mentioned Moon Lee. Both playing roles very different than we have seen them in before and both shining in them. Yukari is very funny & likable as the thief whose in WAY over her head. Ms. Lee is shocking in her crazed psychotic state. Unfortunately it's not all good news as Cynthia Khan is just horrible here. I've begun to notice I've seen more bad than good from her throughout her career.

Yes, there are some editing issues. As for the dubbing, I screened the subtitled version as I always recommend to any fan of asian cinema. The ridiculous dubbing can really take away from an actors work. As for the action, what would you expect from the 3 leading ladies? Excellent work by all.

Overall I really had a fun time with this film. Contrary to the other reviews I've seen.

I wanted to like this movie, I really did. Seeing three of the top female action stars in Hong Kong joining up or beating the hell out of each other would normally mark a good night's entertainment, even if the plot -- which has HK cops Lee and Khan turning on each other after Lawrence Ng tries to play the middle -- is pretty much crap. Death Triangle seemed all the more enticing, since Moon and Yukari go against their normal types in these kinds of movies; Moon is very much the villain, and Yukari is the most likeable character in the movie, even going so far as to providing comic relief.

However, Death Triangle suffers from a severe case of script retardation, and it looks like it was edited with a pair of blunt scissors -- which means the movie is hard to follow and the action scenes are hard to watch (and really unexciting to boot). What shouldn't be hard for you is the decision to skip this clunker. I rented this movie for a dollar, and it feels like I only got a quarter's worth of entertainment. Even if you are a huge fan of one of the leading ladies, I'm sure you could find something better to do with your time than watching yet another example of bad 1990's Hong Kong low-budget action movies (aka "the reason Jurassic Park took the number one spot at the box office"). The only "enjoyment" (if you can call it that) I got out of Death Triangle was laughing at the terrible dubbing in the English version, and there are plenty of other movies which provide that, and also dole out some decent action to go along with it. Don't waste your time or money on this stinker. It's one of those movies you could get a better use out of by using the tape as a drink coaster rather than watching it.

Summary: A half way decent drama..?

First the bad things...Moon Lee overacts
as a scorned lover etc..Cynthia Khan has the personality of "cardboard" as usual....but the good things are.....
Yukari Oshima "shines" as the car thief!! And, the ending has a great fight scene..!! Now, this is called
Death Triangle these days...so take note! Worth a look at least if only for
how hot Yukari is throughout!!
