Summary: Endless chase scenes

This modern film only has a few minutes of martial arts fighting, belonging more in the "thriller" genre.

O Chun Hung's boat is hired by some gangsters seeking sunken gold. After the gold is secured, other gangsters turn up, also after the gold. The hero manages to escape with all the gold. Years later, he is happily married to Nora Miao, and they have a small daughter. The Japanese gangsters (Sammo & Co.) turn up, and the chase is on.

Most of the film consists of long chase scenes, as the gangsters pursue the hero's family in order to find out where the gold is.

One of the Japanese gangsters is portrayed by Whang In Shik, and his wardrobe is copied from Alan Arkin's in "Wait Until Dark": black leather jacket and round sunglasses (which Whang always wears, even in night scenes, looking really ludicrous).

The film isn't particularly good, and there's not enough fighting to satisfy a martial arts fan. But Sammo gives a nice villainous characterization, and if you also enjoy seeing Nora Miao and Whang In Shik, then the film is worth viewing for them alone. Otherwise, skip it.
