Summary: Dull drama

Pretty slow paced and uninteresting is the best way I can sum up Kawashima Yoshiko, a drama based during WWII.

Some of the elements are good, but the majority of the film is about nothing at all, as this story could have been summed up on screen in 15 minutes. Anita Mui once again proved to me she can't act, though Andy Lau acts better than usual in this (not to say he's bad usually though).

The life of a beautiful wartime traitor is documented in thisfilm. Known also as Eastern Jewel, this tragic Manchurian princess actively worked with the Japanese invaders during World War II.

Vaguely reminiscent of The Last Emperor of China, this is perhaps most interesting because it shows that Andy Lau actually can act - I'd given up hope on that one. The movie is slow-paced and not too interesting.
