Queen's High

A series of betrayals and back-stabbings bring chaos to the high stakes world of criminal capitalism in boom-era Hong Kong.

Queen's High is erroneously titled In The Line Of Duty - The Beginning in places, it shares some DNA with the ITLOD series but is not related... unless you accept the theory that the only unifying feature of the series is the presence of Eddie Maher.

The film is a solid if basic slice of Hong Kong action, with nothing to make it especially stand out from the crowd but some competent action. The plot is a bit of a mess, and in too much of a rush to kill off major characters, but at least it keeps you on your toes.

Summary: Very disappointing

Awful ! This film has a few good to great action scenes, but there is so much filler inbetween, with needlessly complicated histrionics, plot twists and changes of direction, that it's hardly worthwhile.

The shootout at Cynthia's wedding and the finale are the only parts of this film to recommend. The wedding scene, about 35 minutes in (also previewed ahead of the front credits), results in most of the main cast being killed off. Of those who survive, only one is left alive as the final credits roll.

Ludicrous bullet-ballet with no heart or brain. However, both the film and Cynthia look great.

Nothing to do with the In the Line of Duty series from D&Bfilms. Cynthia Khan plays a Mafia daughter who is betrayed and takes revenge. Mostly pretty standard stuff, but a slo-mo shootout at Cynthia's wedding is amazing.
