Benny Mok and May Lo loved each other deeply when they wereteenagers, but Benny was just a poor kid that May's rich father didn't approve of. So May's father used his wealth and power to separate the two lovers, forcing May to move to Canada, leaving Benny just a shell of his former self. But now May returns to HK five years later with a child. Can Benny and May renew their love? Will her father interfere again? This movie is a totally predictable romantic melodrama...and I really liked it! To prove my point, I am writing this review two years after having seen the movie. Now that I find out James Yuen was the writer, I am not surprised it had such an effect on me. Mr. Yuen knows how to avoid the silly excesses that most of these movies suffer from, and instead concentrates on the human factor. By the end of the movie, the audience is so caught up in hoping for a happy ending for the two lovers, that they could care less about the obvious plot devices. As always, keep in mind that I have a weak spot for these well-done little romance dramas.
