TOO PAINFUL!! Sammo went in for way too many ghost films during his career, and although a lot of them are quite funny, this is neither funny or interesting. This is not worth tracking down in all honesty.

Early nineties Sammo Hung comedy mixing the triad genre and the ghost genre. A ghost trying to reincarnate hopes to get the "Reincarnation Pearl" from a newly dead - only the supposed newly dead (played by Fennie Yuen) ends up very much alive after being rescued by Sammi and his triad gang. The ghost is out for revenge, and brings the forces of hell up against Sammo and his gang. Things get pretty complicated, and I don't want to give away any plot points, but this was an entertaining little film, a grabfest of many elements, love story, ghost comedy, triad action... Quite enjoyable, but unfortunately only available on VCD.

Summary: Delirious multi-genre piece that's definitely worth seeing!

MY FLYING WIFE (1991) - Absolutely superb movie title, that does just about relate to the movie but is probably misleading anyway. I was expecting something entirely different anyway. What the movie actually turns out to be is a supernatural triad ghost thriller reincarnation action prostitute romance drama. A sadly under-represented genre, as I have often lamented. Attempting to describe the movie is, as you might expect, a difficult challenge - and probably quite futile. A few key points though... Sammo Hung is a good natured triad boss. One of his men can see ghosts, for reasons unexplained. When collecting a debt from a young woman who decides to commit suicide he sees that two ghosts are waiting to take her 'reincarnation pearl' and saves her life. The ghosts get pissed off and decide they're going to get the pearl by fair means or foul. Sammo gets involved to protect his man. That just scratches the surface of the movie, but it ought to be enough to not have totally false expectations (not that it hurt my viewing pleasure that I expected something else entirely).

The movie throws all manner of things into the mix, supernatural and natural, comic, tragic, romantic and just plain weird. It somehow manages to sew them all together successfully into a compelling experience though. Quite a unique film, though it has a certain amount in common with early Sammo films ENCOUNTERS OF THE SPOOKY KIND and THE DEAD AND THE DEADLY. Sammo delivers another great performance, but the movie is almost stolen by Roy Cheung as an incredibly dapper underworld kingpin. Lots of great ideas (some of them possibly insane) and lots of fun.

Cute film about a ghost trying to get a good reincarnation for herson. When a man saves a woman who was going to commit suicide (which would have allowed her son to be reincarnated), she attempts to take revenge on him and also on the reincarnation of the man responsible for her death (played by Samo Hung).

Summary: NULL

Chan Yu Qun (Samo Hung) may be the head of a triad gang, but guns and hatchets aren't going to help when a lovely ghost from dynastic China (Yu Li) tries to steal a reincarnation pearl for her eight-year old son. Incantations, having God Kwan possess Qun's body, and even a chance appearance by the God of Reincarnation can only stave the ghost's wrath -- until Qun realizes he's the woman's husband from a previous life. A triad boss from Chinese Hell (Roy Cheung) gets involved in the mess, as does a suicidal gal pursued by loan sharks (Fennie Yuen) and the guard assigned to make sure she stays alive, making for a fantasy of minimal interest. Give me a hopping vampire movie any day.
