Reviewed by: STSH Date: 12/19/1999 Summary: Beautiful but VERY slow..... My understanding was hampered a little by the lack of English subtitles. However, it had HUGE Chinese subs, which at least helped me get the names right. This film is beautiful to watch, but I'm afraid I found the pace much too slow, and frequently used the fast-forward button. Quite apart from the surreality, I found the construction quite odd. For instance, there are a number of songs sung, with no apparent connection to the story. Rather like an Indian musical played at half speed…… And don't be fooled into thinking this a historical sex romp. It ain't ! Despite the saucy connotations on the cover, the only nudity is a brief shot of Pauline Wong's breasts and behind. Reviewer Score: 2
