Zhang yimou, as always does a tremendous job in making a well crafted, beautifully filmed and entertaining film. It tells the story of a young girl who becomes a substitute teacher for a one room school house in rural china. She ends up having to go into the city to bring back a student who leaves school in order to pay off his family's debts. Amazing acting considering the kids and adults are all non-actors, especially from the main actress Wei. Zhang Yimou is the master. Reviewer Score: 9
