A spiritual love story set in ancient China. A sensitive scholar falls in love with a beautiful ghost -- but he accidentally releases a demon who, after centuries of captivity, must capture the scholar's ethereal lover to regain his evil powers, The scholar paints her portrait in which she hides from the demon. Thwarted, the demon captures the scholar but the ghost surrenders herself to save him. he is saved just in time but must return to the spirit world.
