Yu An-An was born in Hong Kong in 1959 as Yu De-Ying. She appeared in her first movie, ''Let's Rock'', at the age of 16. She joined Shaw Brothers in 1976 after starring in ''Massage Girls'' with Chow Yun-Fat and ''Forecer and Ever'' with Alan Tang. After joining Shaw Brothers, she starred in a number of movies, including ''Death Duel'' and ''Journey of the Doomed''. Yu has also starred in a number of TV series for Rediffusion TV, such as ''Reincarnated'' and ''Dragon Strikes'', etc. She also sang the title songs for the popular TV series and movies too. In late 70s, she joined TVB and starred in several episodes. The most reputable one is the martial arts series ''Book and Sword'' in which she acted as princess Xiang-Xiang. Yu married Chow Yun-Fat in 1983 but they divorced shortly afterwards. She remarried in 1987. After her second marriage, Yu rarely appeared in films and recent one that Yu appeared on the screen was a cameo appearance in Tsui Hark's ''Swordsman 2''.
