Born in 1971 and a native of Nanhai, Guangdong province, Cheung finished high school in Hong Kong and went to Australia for further studies. He returned in 1991 to sign a singing contract with Fiori Creation during the golden era of karaoke. He is best remembered for the duet with Maple Hui for ''Xian Dai Ai Qing Gu Shi'' (Modern Love Story), which swept all major music awards and launched the smooth career for Cheung. Cheung's popularity bloomed with his singing and acting debut with Franchie Chan's ''A Warrior's Tragedy'', followed by ''Tragic Commitment'' and ''Happy Hour''. He is currently focusing his career in Mainland China, starring in such serials as ''Bai Fa Mo Nu Zhuan'', ''Fei Dao Zai Jian Fei Dao'', ''Cao Min Xian Ling'' and ''Ru Lai Shen Zhang''.
