Once Upon a Time a Hero in China (1992)

Summary: silly or daft...
this is a pretty silly parody of wong fei-hung, based around the premise that he isn't a great martial artist, doctor or lover (not that i remember thinking he was...). so, alan tam plays the incapable wong, whilst eric tsang, ng man-tat and simon yam cover him in the fields of martial arts, medicine and love, respectively.

wong has to cope with squabbling, the arrival of aunt yee (teresa mo) and the constant threat of his old enemy, ken (tony leung ka-fai), who wants to become the number one fighter in fu-shan.

this film starts off reasonably, but you soon get the impression that it's going downhill. that is, until the arrival of teresa mo, who ties in all the other characters and breathes a bit of life into the film. there's a few chuckles and it does get better as it progresses.

it's okay...
