Summary: Great Story For a Simple Action Movie
The fourth installment to YES, MADAM! or the IN THE LINE OF DUTY franchise is a really welcoming one. The movie has a cast of varying performers. From Cynthia Khan, Donnie Yen, Michael Wong, Yuen brothers Yat Choh and Shu Yi, Donnie's buddies and onscreen rivals John Salvitti as well as Michael Woods and Stephen Berwick, Lisa Chiao Chiao, the late Liu Kai Chi (RIP), Wai Gei-Shun, Cho Wing, Farlie Ruth Kordica, and Eddie Maher.

What's also surprisingly is that the story is actually well crafted and involves more than just cops and corruption. A bit conventional and marred with Yuen Woo Ping's plain direction, but that aside the writers actually put a lot of effort to make the movie very interesting and engrossing by throwing in characters, story twists, and few other details to ensure the viewing experience by raising the bar beyond incredible action filmmaking.

Great use of all the action performers throughout the movie, with Donnie Yen taking center stage as the lead executing his fight scenes like no other along with his buddies John, Michael, and Stephen shining equally as great. A special mention goes to former Jackie Chan Stunt Team member Cho Wing, who has a memorable fight scene against Yuen Yat Choh and Cynthia Khan respectively, displaying among the best kicking ever put onscreen. One catch is that he fights a Peking opera stuntman -- no disrespect to Yat Choh, he's great in his action scenes -- instead of an equally great martial artist and kicker in Donnie Yen. The two of them young at the time, and in their absolute prime... Such a wasted opportunity!

IN THE LINE OF DUTY 4 has some things that haven't aged good with times but nevertheless, the movie still maintains a successful formula of conventions and fresh ideas combined with the best action scenes you will ever find in Hong Kong cinema. Yuen Woo Ping and Donnie Yen delivers in all spades just a year after their good accomplishment that was TIGER CAGE.
