At the request of a wealthy family matron, a trio of young, attractive female detectives investigate the drowning of a prominent young businessman in Hong Kong. It leads them to a group of petty drug dealers and the ultimate mastermind behind the plot.
Does the setup sound familiar? A blatant rip-off of Charlieâs Angels, The Foxy Ladies is the equivalent of a straight-to-video offering from Shaw Studios. Ai Ti, Ling Doi and Hoh Yin work for the incredibly annoying and overacting Wai Wang in his detective agency. They are involved in a number of terribly unfunny scenes that seem to drag on forever, as well as a handful of ones where they remove a majority of their clothes for absolutely no reason (plot wise). Of course we know that this is essentially the only selling point for the film in the first place. Ai Ti seems to be the leader of this underwhelming group, with the other two tagging along for the screen time. Give this a go only if you know what youâre getting yourself into, itâs essentially a waste of 90 minutes.
