Leslie Cheung sees Maggie Cheung on the street and follows her into the subway, where Anita Mui takes a similar interest in him. It's an odd romantic triangle comedy/drama, because the romances are set up by goofy comic situations on dates and montage with romantic songs rather than serious interaction. Two other guys are also chasing Maggie, Anthony Chan as a cocky, goofy executive of the company where she has just taken a job; and a rich married guy who doesn't want their dead relationship to end. The story gets serious in the final third when Maggie creates a game that will determine whether she will stay with Leslie, which is the source of the Chinese title of the movie, which means fate or destiny (the English title refers to the subway, where some significant events take place).
Maggie Cheung is beautiful, although still baby-faced, and Anita Yuen is very funny in her share of the wacky comedy, in a typical 1980s romantic comedy.
