Summary: 0 scary effect but very funny.
"Step into the dark" is a very funny ghost movie. Everything in this movie will involve a story and many laughs.

According to Wong Jing's direction in this movie, you won't receive anything else than laughs. The story itself was a revenge advanture with Athena as a ghost. Overall, it's only a plain ghost story and nothing more, no scary moments and no suspense effect.

As to the performances, Lau Ching Wan as a sub-leading role in this movie was wasted, there could have been other actor to replace his role. However, he still acted with his good acting skill. Although Lau Ching Wan's role was not much important but I did rather found that Simon and Emotion's roles were extremely funny. For example, Emotion's part acted as Jack in Titanic was very funny. Athena's role in the movie was well done too with her beyond average acting. Other supporting casts were well acted and supportive throughout the whole movie.

To conclude, this movie is enjoyable with many laughs but don't expect any scary moments. The english title of this movie should have change from "Step into the dark" to "Step into the laughs" rather.
