Summary: GOOD
Story of a Bride, is exactly what the title says. It a light drama about a poor mentally disabled women (Sylvia Chang) in Taiwan, who meets a policeman (Hui Bat Liu). She is this way ever since her husband died and she had a breakdown. The story basically shows the couple dealing with problems, but when together all troubles seem far away. It’s a little like ‘Why Me’ and ‘Beloved Son Of God’.

It’s hardly an original concept, and some of the comedy is a bit stupid, but all in all it’s actually highly enjoyable. Sylvia Chang plays her character perfectly, as a mentally disabled girl. It’s also worth mentioning the little girl in this, as she does an excellent job of the woman’s daughter, even though she looks about only 5 years old, she does an excellent job. I don’t know who she is, but I hope she has gone on to act more, because she has potential for sure. The music is also well done, and the mood fits around the settings perfectly.

The Taiwan backgrounds look very nice, making a good setting for a film like this. Though the quality of the film is quite bad, well the VCD version is, it’s also dubbed in Cantonese, which is a shame. If you are able to find the original Mandarin version, then I would highly recommend it if you like light dramas.
