It's the 1930's. China is in a state of turmoil. The Japanese are gassing the hell out of everybody and it's up to a rag tag band of misfits to stop the madness. See Jackie Cheung act like a goof...again. See Tony Leung act superior...again. Filmed in, or rather, attempted to be filmed in, the old time Saturday matinee style ( "calling Dr. Jones!")There are way too many lulls between lackluster action set peices.
Give it credit for some genuinely funny moments. I'm not a fan of ratings. If the story line interests you, by all means check it out. I'm just one fan.
