Heroes Shed No Tears (1980)

This flick is based on a Ku Long story called “Ying Xiong Wu Lei” or “A Hero without Tears” . Fu Sheng plays a young lad named Kao Chien Fei who has been sent by his Master (Ching Miao) to settle a “great crisis”, with his sword called the “Sword of Tears”. He winds up being a blood brother to Chu Meng (Ku Feng), a man wanted by the leader of an unbeatable escort service, Sze Ma Chao Chun (Pai Piao) and his conniving aide, Zhou Tung Lai (Derek Yee). Compounding matters with Chu Meng is that Chien Fei and he have fallen for the same chick, Ms. “Graceful” (Chiu Nga Chi). Chien Fei then meets a mysterious guy with a wooden box named Hsiao Lei Hseuh (Yueh Hua) who thinks that he is destined to die under the “sword of tears” as it has been foretold that the son of his Father will meet this fate (he has a surprise coming to him!). Any hoots, throughout the flick, “Ku Lung style”, there are a lot of things going on such as misunderstandings, double-crossings, and love that is lost. You also have one man that seems to be the bane of everybody’s problem. Like always in a Ku Lung story, watch the ending because everything that happens in his story, big or small, always comes back in the end to play a part and tie up all the loose ends of the story. Fu Sheng was decent and supposedly suffered a bad injury in this flick. Also, the acting job by Ku Feng was top notch and it’s one of his best performances that I can recall. Good flick.
