"Lost in Time" is a solid domestic drama from director Derek Yee. The plot concerns Siu Wai's adjustment to life after her fiance, played by Louis Koo, is killed in a traffic accident. Siu Wai (Cecilia Cheung) struggles in trying to set up life with Koo's son in tow. Dai Fai, played by Lau Ching Wan, helps Cecilia as much as he possibly can by providing practical advice on life as well as insight into the world of minibus drivers.
Director Yee does a tremendous job in creating interest in this small but lively story of moving on with life and picking up the pieces after a loved one has passed away. Cecilia Cheung and Lau Ching Wan do superbly with their roles without having to sink to melodrama or soap opera antics. The adorable kid steals the scenes he's in and really works well with the cast members.
"Lost in Time" is a fine example of Yee's eye for detail in bringing quality performances to life. His works do not rely on gimmicks, but rather on character development and storytelling.
