Jacky Cheung, Tang Wei set to star in Crossing Hennessy
Hong Kong singer Jacky Cheung and Chinese actress Tang Wei have been lined up to star in Crossing Hennessy, the second film from Ivy Ho, which she is directing for Hong Kong-based Irresistible Films.
Ho, formerly a scriptwriter with credits including Ann Hui's July Rhapsody, made her directing debut last year with Claustrophobia which screens in the Panorama section of this year's Berlin International Film Festival.
Crossing Hennessy tells the story of a store owner and the quiet 'girl-next-door' who are set up on a blind date by well-meaning relatives, despite the fact that they're both in love with other people.
Yee Chung Man and Cary Cheng are producing the film which starts shooting in mid-March 2009. The film marks Cheung's first major leading role since Peter Chan's musical Perhaps Love in 2005. Tang previously starred in Ang Lee's Lust, Caution.
Created by Hong Kong producer Bill Kong, investor Hugh Simon and Japan's Avex Entertainment, Irresistible Films aims to develop and produce Asian features from new filmmakers. The company is headed by Nansun Shi and supported by Lorna Tee.
